Rebecca Raber grew up on the Lovcik family farm in Pisek, North Dakota and was one of the last classes to graduate from Pisek High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with departmental honors from Jamestown College where she studied with Dr. Richard Harrison Smith and earned degrees in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education, History/Political Science and Asian Studies. Although she is now in her tenth year with Fargo Catholic Schools, she has been a vocal and instrumental music educator for the past seventeen years.

She graduated from UND with a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting and studied with Dr. James Rodde and Dr. Susan McMane.  Rebecca also served on the faculty at the University of North Dakota as conductor of their popular men's choir, the Varsity Bards for four years and accompanist for one year.  A mezzo-soprano, she has been a featured soloist in Mozart's Requiem as well as several shorter works. Ms. Raber maintains a private lesson studio and is an active composer and arranger. She serves as both an adjudicator and guest clinician and served as the conductor of the North Dakota Girls State Chorus for nine years. In the summer of 2007 she was conductor of the Northern Ambassadors of Music Mixed Choir which toured in England, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

Ms. Raber is very active in the American Choral Director's Association, previously having served as the Repertoire & Standards Chair for Male Choirs and recently taking office as the State President for the State of North Dakota. She is also the webmistress for the NDACDA website:  http://www.ndacda.com

Rebecca is slowly working on her Doctorate in Choral Conducting while she is teaching.

Rebecca and her husband, Michael, taught music in the public schools together for five years. Michael now manages Eckroth Music in Fargo and plays with a few area bands in addition to being the preferred percussionist for the Shanley Choirs! Ms. Raber has been a Sioux Hockey fan since fifth grade, loves to tease students/co-workers who are Gopher fans, and may be seen behind the Sioux goal at every home hockey game! Rebecca also enjoys travel, photography, web design, computer graphics and theatre.
